I’m certainly hoping it does the job! I’ve been on it since August 2024. Tomorrow I go for biopsies, I had a pet scan that showed a mass and 2 lymph node’s enlarged in the same breast. I’m keeping my fingers crossed it’s not cancer again

I have tissue expanders in which have metal. I couldn’t take an MRI, that’s why I had a pet scan done.

Wishing you all the best with your upcoming scans! The targeted drugs are very effective, the chemo and radiation are meant to kill the cancer cells, the Herceptin is meant to block any signals to make more- think of it as the 1-2 knockout punches!! Because most recurrences for us HER2+ gals happen within the first two years, I stayed a little anxious until then, and then a bit less so with each year after.
Hugs!

@A MyBCTeam Member they only do scans frequently to monitor stage 4 BC to watch for spread because once drug protocols stop working different drugs are tried. They also have to look for bone fractures.
Only when something requires a scan will insurance pay for them. If labs are questionable or if a woman has some kind of pain.
I will add though, all the scanning in the world does not prevent metastases. Once its there, its there. More frequent scanning can find mets sooner though .
