What else can be done about this? It has become very uncomfortable almost like an engorged breast if you’ve been breast-feeding.
Also, is it possible to get this one removed and put in a new one?
Thank you, I see my oncologist Friday, and will ask about that, and then see about setting up an appointment with the plastic surgeon.
@A MyBCTeam Member feel free to reach out, I’ll be glad to share my experience with you. My implant became contracted. I was also on antibiotics for months because they thought it was infected, it was not. I had developed Seromas under and around my implant, at one point had 400cc of fluid aspirated from the breast. When he finally operated, it was full of necrotic tissue, and fluid pockets. I’m three weeks out from the second surgery, I’m doing much better as far as pain relief. Which is good…but I’m very disappointed with the asymmetry of my breasts. I’m hoping once the new implant settles in, they’ll look better. Looking back, I wish I never did radiation, or at least put it off until my reconstruction had healed better. I don’t know…again, best wishes to you. 💕
@A MyBCTeam Member I don’t want to alarm you; but the same happened to me…exactly. I ended up having to have a second surgery to clean out the breast cavity and exchange my implant due to damage done from radiation. I voluntarily ended radiation early, I was so uncomfortable and in pain. I wish you the best and I hope it resolves on its own. I went through 3 months of hell before my surgeon decided to operate. I had an MRI, and was on prednisone for months to try to relieve the inflammation, to no avail. Get a second opinion if you feel it’s necessary. God bless 🙏🏻
Recent studies on fat grafting are showing that it can actually heal radiated tissue.
Radiated tissue cause lots of complications with implants. Have you followed up with your plastic surgeon.
