That I am not so sure about Margaret. I know I have read a lot about tumors not being removed if metastatic. I think as long as you take a hormone blocker it will prevent estrogen from feeding any cells. For a year it kept my own mets stable. Only after a year was a 3rd mets found.

Considering sometimes they don't find mets right away, I think the hormone blockers should start right away. My mets wasn't discovered until a week after surgery. The first mets they found was probably growing over a year before my initial diagnoses. Maybe if I started anastrozole in March 2023 the 2nd mets on my hip might not have happened. My surgery wasn't until July 2023. Its not the fault of my doctor, its mine for not following through when I was supposed to make an appointment with medical oncologist and didn't until after surgery.

I was diagnosed mets to the bonemarrow last year. Was put on oral meds and just this past week I was told Im in remission! So oral meds is the first line of treatment depending on where cancer has spread-and it could work w/o any other interventions I

part 2 because I still wonder why my tumor was not removed because it might still be spreading cancer cells to other parts of my body, even though I understand the surgery could also potentially cause a 'storm' of cancer cells being spread... its a conundrum this is what I was trying to ask but ran out of allowable space

was wondering if your doctor would have still recommended surgical removal even after receiving metastatic diagnosis
