I had AC first, followed by dose dense Taxol. I thought Taxol wasn’t too bad. I had chemo every other Thursday. I felt fine until Friday evening, then I was wiped out until Sunday evening. I had some intermittent nausea, which was well managed by Zofran. Taxol can cause neuropathy in hands and feet, I iced during the infusion. Did have some neuropathy by the end of Taxol, but completely resolved in my hands, very mild residual in my toes. I did work through chemo, as an inpatient nurse, working 7 pm to 7:30 am, 3 days a week. Never called in.
Yes, chemo does suck, but There are things you can do make this better. Drink as much water as you can, start hydrating the day before infusion. Eat what you can. Sleep when you need to, but don’t stay in bed all day. Be as active as possible, daily walks, stationary bike, yoga, etc. Let your team know if you are struggling, IV fluids can help, they can change your nausea meds. The most important thing is your attitude. You have to believe you can do this.
Wishing you well!
Hi Courtney, I had taxol alone for 6 months. I had nausea consistently throughout. This showed up right away, I felt it after the pre meds wore off in about a day. Can you get hydration treatments? That was helpful to me. Neuropathy was a side effect for me that was progressive. Be sure to let doctors know about side effects and how you feel about them. I also followed the cancer diet as best I could, fruit, vegetables, lean meats for protein to give you strength. Lots of info on the internet. I watched a lot of YouTube videos by Dr William Li. I found him to be understandable. Take care of yourself. Rest and get what exercise you are able. Walks helped for me. Best wishes and prayers coming your way.

One of the most common early side effects is taxane acute pain syndrome (TAPS), which typically starts within 24-48 hours after receiving Taxol. This pain usually affects the hips, legs, and feet, and can last up to a week. About 70% of people receiving Taxol Show Full Answer
