I beat cancer and have been living life but my support system is moving out of state and I want to follow but I have crippling anxiety leaving my health team….
I agree with Barb. It's harder to find a support system than a good doctor. Unless you are moving to outer nowhere. You could also check with your team about a referral to a facility in your new location. I found it very reassuring when my second opinion doctor recommended the doctor that would take over my care.
You could let your healthcare team know you are considering a move, and see if they have any recommendations. You can always ask, IF you decide to move, would they still be available for a consult should the need arise. Keeping you in prayers! Hugs!
if your cancer has been in remission/stable but family or friends are moving, I think its more important to stay close to them than your health team . You can always get a new healthcare team but a support system is often not replaceable and very valuable. 🥰
It's understandable to feel anxious about leaving your health team after such a significant journey. Many breast cancer survivors face similar concerns when considering a move. To ease the transition, you can:
1. Research oncologists and cancer centers in the new state
2. Ask your current health team for referrals or Show Full Answer
That's a great question. Facing a similar dilemma. I want to relocate, But I have decided to wait 6 months, until I can build up my health, finances, and confidence. Wishing you the best!
