I've been taking Anastrozol for about six months. I have only had a few joint issues and I get night sweats. I've had some headaches but not everyday. Other than that I don't have any problems with it.
I’m 66 so taking anastrozole has been like going through a second menopause with hot flashes, night sweats, brain fog, vaginal dryness and itching, anxiety, and slight insomnia.
@A MyBCTeam Member: I take a different AI and have had no issues - many women dont. Here's the thing - even if you do experience side effects, they can always adjust dosage or switch you to a different AI (some women find they do better on one over another for whatever reason). And some effects, if they happen - like joint pain/stiffness, can dissipate as your body acclimates to the drug. Don't go into it expecting the worst, and remember that you always have options. I take Letroxole which I believe is in the same family. I have hot flashes, night sweats, cognitive issues, emotional lability, insomnia and inability to fall back asleep. The sleep issues are the latest and they didn't develop right away. Oh yeah, I also have significant hair thinning but not sure that is just the Letroxole. I also take Verzenio and monthly Xgeva.
