Hugs back. Ibrance has worked for me about 2 years, at least until recently. Thanks for sharing name of drugs that worked for you,, If they have to change my meds at least those will be something I've heard of. Best wishes.

I have had three semi-permanent drainage tubes (Denver drains) in the past and they do not want to do this again. I've also had several thoracentesis procedures over the last 6 years. I have been taking Ibrance pills and Faslodex monthly injections which seemed to slow the fluid accumulation until the last several months. Recently the accumulation of fluid has increased again. They removed 800 ml and a CT scan still showed quite a bit of fluid, enough that I have serious shortness of breath with any activity. They want to do a sclerosis of the pleura which would cause the two layers to bond together, leaving very little room for fluid to accumulate, hoping this would eliminate my shortness of breath.

I have several questions for my oncologist and pulmonary specialist. For example, has the medication stopped being effective and what happens to the cancer cells generated once they can no longer reside in the pleura? My cancer is HR+/HER2-, started in left breast then metastasized to my lungs.

It would help to talk with other cancer survivors who have dealt with similar issues. Thank you for sharing any relevant insights you have.

And my commiseration for your thoracentesis. It's no picnic. How long since your cancer metastasized?

I have had several Denver drains over several years and now they want to do a pleuroscopy and I am trying to decide whether to proceed, Any thoughts?
