Thank you so much Nancy for all of the great and helpful information. I'm so sorry to hear that you're burn got so bad! 😒💜
If I may give a suggestion .. this is the time to slather yourself with Miaderm or Calendula Cream. Put it on your entire upper chest and up to your mid-neck area. It’ll help prevent potential burns. All the best to you 💗
I just completed 15 of my 30 sessions. So far my skin hasn’t burned but it is tight and feels like a pre sunburn and a bit itchy. I’m much more tired than I expected but I’m told that’s normal.
Hi there Leanne, I had radiation treatments last June and July. 20 treatments in total. What I experienced is the worst sunburn that I had ever had. I had redness and blistering. It was very painful 💔. As soon as I would get home I would put on some Aquaphor cream all over twice a day. Believe me it helps. I would also take off my bra. I couldn't stand to have anything touching. Make sure to use the cream they tell you to use. Stay out of the sun as much as you can. It was really hot here in South Carolina and I was miserable. You are going to get extremely tired. Know ahead of time that this is normal. The radiation takes a lot out of you. Rest as much as you can. Make sure to take care of yourself first. The redness and blistering will get better after you are finished with all of your treatments. There is light at the end. It just takes time to get to it. Your care team will walk you through each and every step that they will put you through before your treatments start. The process and the machine they use might look scary but you can do it. I was really scared and my anxiety was really working overtime. Take a deep breath and you will be fine. Here if you want to know more.
Hi,
I had only 5 doses of radiation but still got a bad sunburn followed by a rash that would not go away until I went on both topical and oral steroids. I used all sorts of creams during the treatment including Eucerin,, calendula oil, etc. but they did not help in my case. Make sure your radiation oncologist really listens to you.
