My impression is that determining the types of triple negative is not an easy or routine process, given that there is still a lot being learned about this heterogeneous type of breast cancer. I'd be interested in hearing from an others with triple negative if they were informed of what type they had.

Not in my record. And when I asked about it, I was told that they didn't have the ability (or something like that) to make that distinction. It doesn't really matter but I was just curious.

I too have(had) the triple negative (ER/PR and HER2 all negative) and mine was also described as invasive ductal carcinoma (started in the duct but was also found outside in nearby breast tissue). Your Ki67 is quite high and LauraAh pointed out, while mine was quite low; I hope yours in not growing fast and has been treated. Your grade 3 is your Nottingham score, indicating how different your cancer cells are from healthy breast cells (3/3 is a high score). The TNM is a staging system used in many cancers; T is for the size of the tumor, N is for the lymph node involvement (glad yours was 0), and M is for metastases (the x probably means unknown at that time). Then you have your staging IIA/IIB, the first one being anatomical and the second one being prognostic. In other words, the 2a is based on the characteristics of the tumor alone, where as the 2b includes additional data that aids in the prognosis. I was 1a/1b. The fact that I can explain all of this means I've spent too much time on the internet! However, it sounds like neither of us know our molecular subtype (yet). Perhaps we don't need to know?

My Ki-67 was only 10% which probably has something to do with my mets not increasing since July . Its slow growing. I really didn't think much about that number but there is nothing else that could explain the results of my CT scan 2 weeks ago.

Wow KatieAnn! You top me. Ki-67 is the proliferation, or growth rate of the cancer. Mine was 85, which is very high. You beat me!
