I take Wellbutrin for my mental health as well as weight loss. I was on Wellbutrin when I was started on Tamoxifen. Now, I have been told by the radiation oncologist that it is the tamoxifen making me bat shit crazy. Also that the Wellbutrin greatly decreases the effectiveness of the tamoxifen. I’m on a two week break from tamoxifen and then we are supposed to review my options including changing my antidepressants. I will not change my medication regimen on my psych meds. So, what other options… read more
I was able to move it up until next week. I do have some good news. I good the results back from the overnight oximetry test and my oxygen levels during the night have improved since they changed the setting on my CPAP.
I’m going to see if I can move my oncology appointment up. I would like to know what the options are for moving forward.
Great question, I am currently trying to navigate this as well. I tried both the AI med and tamoxifen and both gave me a reaction after one pill. We are trying to see if I am allergic. I am waiting on my allergist appointment. I think it is anxiety. PSYch just put me on Lexapro, start today. Many anti anxiety/depression meds cannot be taken with Tamoxifen. If I am allergic to hormone suppressors I am not sure what I can take, I don't believe there is an option. This of course gives me more anxiety because the oncologist says I need to be on one. Please share if there is something else. I would love to know. Good luck
JlMonkman, I am post menopausal. I see my medical oncologist on March 20th. Thank you for your advice.
Sorry to hear this.
I am also post-menopausal and take Letrozole.
There are Aromatase Inhibitor (AI) drugs: Anastrozole, Letrozole, and Exemestane that can be taken instead of Tamoxifen.
Depending on your menopausal status the AI drugs may work for you as they have less restrictions/Interactions than Tamoxifen. This would be a good question for your Medical Oncologist who I am assuming is the "Point Doctor" for your Cancer care as your Radiation Oncologist is not.
Just some thoughts.
Sending positive vibes your way.
