I was not a candidate for a lumpectomy. Two different types of cancer in one breast.
I had no mass or tumor. I was stage 1. Lymph nodes were clean.

“Mastectomy is offered if there is cancer in more than one area of the breast or in the tissue removed along with the tumor during breast-conserving surgery (called positive surgical margins). It is also offered if a tumor isn't found in the breast but a very small amount of cancer is in the lymph nodes (stage 1B).”

I was told the risk of recurrence is less 1% difference between lumpectomy with radiation versus mastectomy.

I did. I just had lumpectomy and node biopsy 2 weeks ago. Getting ready to start chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiation after chemotherapy. Pleomorphic ILC, triple positive

I was also told lumpectomy + radiation vs mastectomy would give me same result so I went with mastectomy because I did not want radiation.

Yes i had small tumor so i got the lumpectomy
