I am a little over one week post op for lumpectomy and node biopsy in right breast for multifocal ILC. I have been waking up with debilitating headaches and get at least 2 more bad headaches throught the day. I get short of breath real easy but I do have COPD and my annual scan for that is later this week. Often insurance companies do not pay for PET scans, even for metastatic patients. Maybe ask for a referral to a neurologist for your head aches, and a brain MRI. I don’t think a PET looks at the brain.

they will do them for diagnostic purposes and not to just check for recurrence so if you have symptoms you could get one. Its the insurance companies that sometimes will reject them. Thats why a PET scan is usually done last. They will order ultrasounds and CT scans . If they said there was lymphatic/vascular invasion then I would think you should be able to have one.
