In addition, I have become an emotional sobbing wreck. Will this resolve itself? If so, how long will it take?
I hope your email is accepted as what it is- a patient expressing their honest concerns. I do agree with Melissa, you are still healing- physically and emotionally. Hopefully as you heal, and feel better, things will be better. What a lot of doctors don't tell us is that this process comes with a mourning period- we have lost not just a part of our body, but a sense of who we are- we miss the old us- and are not sure about this new identity of cancer patient/warrior/whatever! that has been forced upon us. One step at a time, ok?- heal and process, then go from there! Gentle hugs!
I’m 3 weeks out from double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. Still feeling emotional at times. I know it’ll never be the same. For me it is accepting this new me.
Starting chemo in a few weeks and there will be even more impacts. Reminding myself daily to be grateful. This isn’t going to be easy and our emotions are normal .
Be strong, stay positive. Focus on the healing.
Big hugs to you! I agree with virginiavalley, One day at a time.
Thank you for your words. I just sent my surgeon an email clarifying what my concerns are and explaining that more education and communication might have helped alleviate some of this. I will let you know if and what he responds. Hopefully he won’t fire me.
@A MyBCTeam Member: Two weeks is not long so things will continue to heal and change, so please be patient and kind with yourself. What you've gone through is a trauma, to the body and the mind, so being emotional is completely understandable. Breathe, and give yourself time - things will get better. You are here and alive, and believe me there is nothing more beautiful than that. 🩷🦄
You are very wise. Good luck. Keep us posted because we care about you.
