I was diagnosed with Stage III Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, HER2 Positive ER/PR-. I had Herceptin & Perjeta before my left total mastectomy. I rarely had issues with this chemo besides fatigue. But it shrunk my tumors by the time I had surgery and then I continued a few more sessions after surgery. I'm so glad I decided to do chemotherapy. I had a fear of the unknown at first, but all the worrying was swept away once I started. I had other chemo also but am currently NED (No Evidence of Disease).

Hi Margaret, my diagnosis was HER2+, Stage 2 Grade 3 (aggressive), one tumor 2.7 cm. I opted for the mastectomy, no reconstruction (which allowed me to skip radiation) and a year of infusion protocols. I had 6 rounds of chemo (Taxotere, Carboplatin, Herceptin) scheduled for 3 weeks apart. I also had the Neulasta drug to stimulate the bone marrow to make more white blood cells (the infection fighters). Once the 6 chemos were done, I moved to Herceptin only, which was so much easier on my body, the Neulasta was no longer needed, and I almost- lol!- almost, felt guilty taking the whole day off work. Chemo for me started at 8 am and finished around 3 pm. The Herceptin treatments? I was usually in and out of the center in about an hour!

I finished my infusion protocols 4 years ago, and so far so good. Reach out anytime!
Hugs!
