I guess I had both! I had DCIS on the under side of my right breast and a small invasive tumor near the top as well as cancer in some of my lymph nodes. They got everything though! Chemo and radiation are next

Hi Sharee. I'm not sure I'm understanding. Do you have more than one tumor or tumors in both breasts? I'm asking because you could have a DCIS in one spot and something more invasive in another spot that got to your lymph nodes. I'm asking because you seemed to know that you have stage 3 before you had this biopsy. However, if that doesn't fit, another possible explanation would be something that I found in my pathology report. My tumor was invasive, i.e. it had gotten outside of the duct, but apparently was still in the duct too, or so I'm assuming because it was described both ways in the report. Obviously the best answer will come from your doctors as I'm just a beginner with understanding all of this.

My biopsy came back as invasive lobular cancer and they haven’t even biopsied my lymph nodes yet.

From my understanding 'invasive' means invading somewhere. Carcinoma in situ refers to a group of abnormal cells that have not spread from the location where they first formed,You'll need to ask your doctor for an explanation. Let us know what they say.
