Hello Kathy.. hope you’re having a good Sunday.. I have only been on Letrozole for about 3+years now.. I have met several BC patients who have had a really difficult time with this medication.. for me, I must say the side effects have thankfully been “mild”… all the usual though..some bone/ muscle pain on and off.. brain fog, fatigue, took about 2-3 months to learn how my body was handling this med and made adjustments where I could..
Every time I saw my oncologist I brought up every single thing I noticed so we could discuss..
So I would say, like all the other cancer treatments/ procedures, each side effect is a matter of degree..
Let me know why you want to change to this med and what you decide…

Hey Gloria, I started on Tamoxifen November of 2022 when I was premenopausal and had a total hysterectomy in March 2023 so now my oncologist says I can switch to Letrozole which is for postmenopausal women. He says Tamoxifen has a higher risk of blood clots which is scary. I've tolerated it fairly well. Like you said "mild" so I'm a little hesitant to change. I have to take it for 5 years but I'm almost one year in! Thanks for responding to my question. Hugs and blessings to you too.
