I also had the single mastectomy- no reconstruction, and that was 2018. I have the prosthetic, and throw it in the bra before going to work or out- if I did not tell you, you wouldn't be able to tell. I am used to it, so used to it that being the klutz I am, I once bumped it into the door frame- and thought- that's gonna leave a bruise- oh, wait- lol! I have no regrets, just get aggravated that we are forced into a place where we even have to consider these decisions. Big hugs!
@A MyBCTeam Member: not sure of exactly what you're asking, lovely one...? I had a mastectomy to flat - I wear a "foob" (fake boob) sometimes but other times nothing at all. Doesn't bother me. A great place to check out is the Facebook group "Fierce, Flat, Forward" - its all women who decided to go flat (no reconstruction). Wishing you all the best! ๐๐ฆ
Hi Najmeh, for me everything had gotten better with time. My cancer was hormone positive and I am dealing with osteoporosis. Iโm in my 2nd year of anastrozole as a hormone blocker and am getting annual infusions of zometa for the osteoporosis. Iโve tolerated both fairly well. I get my third dose of zometa in September. My last bone density did show satisfactory improvement. Good luck with your treatments.
Dear Mellisa, such a relief to hear from you, and FFF group in Facebook. I will contact them. It is 29 days passed my surgery, the drain is gone on 3/13/23. I am glad i can shower normally, be truthful i have not got used to seeing myself with only one breast, but really who cares i got rid of cancer. That was my greatest victory in my life. My Oncologist was encouraging me to get rid of my Hormones. When i mentioned my Osteoprosis, she changed her mind. But my PCP said there is a balance between the two problems. Anyone had similar problems? Thank you ladies, i trust your opinions, i know it comes from your heart.
Thank you dear Viginia, that is exactly what i feel. I just needed to hear it from another person, with single mastectomy, Cheers. Najmeh
