Sounds like you’re doing great Donna with what is such a tough situation. I didn’t have scalp pain but will be interested to see if others did. Best wishes with your treatment!
Yes I think I'm prepared to lose it but I did read that some women scalp hurted and I didn't know if all had that or what. Thank you for answering.
Hi Donna! That makes total sense to me! You can think about it - but just don’t know what it feels like until it happens.
For me I feel like my hair first became more dry. And I started shedding a bit more hair then usual - especially when washing my hair. But I don’t know that there was a true warning sign. Just one day I washed my hair and a LOT came out. I was very emotional (I had long hair I was very attached to). But more quickly to than I thought i would I got used to it.
I had a lot of thick hair to start, so I was lucky that it took awhile for my hair loss to show (even though I was losing a lot of hair every day.) The thinning first showed for me on top - so I wore wide cloth head bands before later transitioning to scarves.
Looking back I wish I had enjoyed having my hair and worried less about when I would lose it. But I also think that’s very easy to say and very hard to do when you’re in the middle of it.
This is just hard - no way around it. Hang in there!
I prepared that it will happen but not prepared if that makes sense. I want to do it before I start to see a lot . We're there any signs, sore head or burning itchy scalp or anything like that?
My oncologist told me (when I asked) that I would likely lose my hair before the next chemo. Was on ACT plan. He was right. Lost it in the shower the day before my second treatment. I was hysterical but my sister came up, helped cut the rest of hair on head, and I sobbed myself to sleep eventually. Be prepared. I wasn’t really mentally prepared and it was tough. Good luck
