Be at peace with your breast decision and know second thoughts will pass. 💗💗💗 Love yourself first.💗💗💗 embrace the new you and enjoy life. (Double mastectomy, flat no reconstruction) hugs. Terry
I had a hard time with losing one breast. I couldn't look at myself. It wasn't because of vanity. It was because I felt ashamed and I think I was still in denial and in shock over everything.
I think once I got over the shame and shock, I was ok. I was so grateful to be alive. I revel in my scars. They keep me grounded. They are a source of pride for me.
My advice? It is ok to mourn the loss of your breasts. I know that right now, you feel that they are your connection to being a woman. You may feel lost and feel down about yourself. Before you know it, you won't really think about it anymore. Give yourself time and be kind to yourself.
Well said, Trisha.
It's the new norm ...like it or not. Sure we are missing pieces, some more than others...This is why I correct the "save the Ta-Ta's", Nah I'm good, save the woman, not the ta-ta's - them things tried to kill us...Take them, please. - if that's all you lost be blessed. Some lost a great deal more in this fight. It's not for sissy that's for sure. It's ok to mourn the loss as mentioned to look down and see different. Because of our different looks, we continue to share what this disease does Ladies, wear your battle scars with pride...knowing we are so much closer to a cure than we once were...and one day this will be a story to many who will go forth without having to refight this battle that our ancestors fought and so have we. Have the doubt, second thoughts, and missing pieces you have been with for years. The Ta-Ta's are traders though, they brought for this enemy that we will one day squash...in the meantime...again if that's all you lost ...consider it a blessing. No offense is meant in any of ny statements...to each their own...I love and respect all of my pink sisters.
Cancer free and blessed is wonderful. Your attitude is great and this journey will be easier because of it. Keep it up🫶
