Does your dr do it right away proactively or wait a year to see what happens?

Have you had a baseline dexa bone density scan? I had one right as I was starting Letrozole, and it showed osteopenia. I was 49 and just had menopause induced, so my bones were only going to get weaker. I began Zometa infusions about 10 months later. I would have actually liked to begin sooner, but I needed a dental exam/cleaning first and had to wait until at least 3 months after my implant surgery for dental cleaning (plastic surgeon's orders). Then, COVID hit and everything was delayed. So, anyway, I'd recommend getting a bone density scan first as a baseline and to see whether you need Zometa. I do know two women whose bones were fine, but they went on Zometa because it also slightly reduces risk of recurrence to the bones. An added benefit. I will have another bone density scan two years after the first one (so about 15 months after starting Zometa) to see how my bones are doing.

My dr said to take Caltrate and we would schedule a test for later this year.
