I had very minimal pain recovering from my DIEP flap surgery, and was able to get up and down just fine from day one. But that's just me and the way my body reacted to it. I was quite surprised since I was expecting it to be much harder.

I had DIEP flap surgery immediately following my mastectomy. Dr. Colfrey, New Orleans. I'm pleased with the results.

Rounds of chemo so was hoping to be stronger

I did a TUG flap surgery. They took muscle and fat from my upper inner thighs. It's a very tough surgery, as a DIEP flap will be. You will struggle to get out of bed for weeks, but I chose that surgery for a more natural appearance over implants. I am not doing radiation , tomorrow is round 3 of 8 for chemo. Any reason they are suggesting radiation over chemo?
