I was on Anastrozole pills and Fulvestrant shots as part of a study before lumpectomy. last winter. I really struggled not with pain but severe cognitive and emotional effects. Mind you I am a psychologist myself LOL.
I switched to online classes from face to face lecturing as college professor because I had such word finding problem and memory issues. I also ended up seeing a psychologist in our oncology center because I was loosing my cool in meetings a couple of times. That is totally out of character for me.
She was able to give me great help with strategies that took care of the "cool" part.
As soon as the study was over my words and equilibrium returned immediately.

I have an appointment in a couple of weeks when I am supposed to start the post hormone treatment, ugh, I am NOT looking forward to it.

My best buddy who went through the same cancer as I am just ditched the Anastrozole because she had such severe pain with it. She is now on Letrozole and so far no pain but stupidity has already set in. She is also a college professor and hates it.

I took Arimidex 6 weeks, couldn't hardly walk, Aroamasin 1 yr arms hurt could hardly use them, Femura about 2 yrs and feet hurt and swelled felt like walking on needles, changed to Tamoxifen tolerated for 2 1/2 years. Just dragged and all over hurt. Stopped taking any after 5 yr. My energy level leaves me after working or very stressful day. Was always a fast go get things done ahead of time. Never more!,!!! 8 yr survivor and thankful for each day of life.

I read more negatives than positive. After my knee pain ( which is getting better because of PT ) I’m so scared to try anything
