I had stage 1a HER2+ and had a lumpectomy in August and am now in chemotherapy (taxol) and herceptin. My tumor was small, so the surgeon and oncologist agreed surgery first was appropriate.
Hi Jen,
I had chemo TCH, then surgery then 25 rounds of radiation. I had a complete response to chemo. By the 4th treatment my tumour was no longer visible under mri. Good luck
I had surgery first..then the chemotherapy after. I am triple positive left breast 2 lumps 2 different types of cancer pr+er+her2+ & pr+er+her2-
Also lump in the right breast was cancer
They are gone both of them and the chemotherapy after surgery is what I did
Just finished 12 weekly chemotherapy and now just every 3 weeks for 9 months of the herceprin
Wish you the best
Chemo first is usually to shrink the tumor so they can be surgically removed. Those cancers also tend to be more aggressive and fast growing. Those that have surgery first usually have smaller And less aggressive slower growing tumors and then they do their treatment.
I had six rounds of TCHP chemo for Her2+, followed by a mastectomy. It seems many women have surgery first, but I had chemo first.
