I never had a blood clot but have had blown veins just from normal blood draws. For labs I usually ask for a smaller needle. I find some people are very good at blood dras and some seem to be hacks. When I was getting my port placed it took 4 rn's to try to get the IV in.

Do you take tamoxifen? I know there is a huge risk for clots with that medication. I have factor V - a blood clotting disorder so the doctor said tamoxifen was contraindicated for me. Take care. Wish you the best and resolve of your clots.

I am 5 wks postop Mastectomy , I had an abdomen CT-Scan I they found 3 pulmonary embolism in my lungs , my oncologist said I was lucky they are stuck , it wasn’t luck I am a child of God & his hand is always on me , so my oncologist put me on Xarelto 15 mg 2 times a day , because 3 wks ago my mom had 2 strokes on both sides of her brain , the neurologist said she had a pulmonary embolism that travel to her brain , she can speak or walk was place in an rehabilitation home , i was so shocked , and I didn’t know that’s why I have been so short of breath when I would try and walk to get in some exercise

My mom had blood clots in her shoulder. They were able to get her into surgery before they went to her heart or lungs.mso they put her on Coumadin until she died. My brother was dx'd with DVT in his legs this past winter. They put him on a blood thinner starting with X. I think it is Xarolto (sp) . If a blood clot breaks loose it could mean death.

Jawags, ugh why did your mom and brother have to take blood thinners for the rest of their life? I’m on aspirin which I think thins the blood .
