Can A Raised Tumor Marker Be Caused By Damage To The Silicone Implant As A Result Of Lipotransfer?

My ps pierced my implant twice while doing fat transfers on the mastectomy side. Since i have been told that i have inflammation in the breast and i also experience pain. Could this be the cause of an elevated CA15-3 (mine is 25.8 should i worry? )? Also would revision surgery resolve this?
Thank you all for your time

I’m sorry you’re going through this, my tumor markers fluctuate. Any infection and certainly surgery can raise those numbers. I am surprised that your ps pierced the implant and didn’t take it out. I would consider consulting with a different ps, it sounds like this surgeon is not a good one.

I am having it replaced. Surgery is due end October. My onc and ps reckon the raised marker could be caused by the inflammation to the damaged breast but you know sometimes you over think and say to yourself maybe it sthng else.
My ps is excellent but i do feel he has made a cple of mistakes at my expense.

What in the??? Pierced it twice?? They should remove that implant and replace it. Not a good idea to a leaking implant in your body. I don’t know about cancer markers. But my inflammation markers went up when I had my silicone. My oncologist doesn’t like to do routine cancer markers and she says they can change ( but be false) due to any stress etc ... I don’t see why a leaky implant would be any different. They need to replace that implant. Good luck.

I would think they would have to exchange the implant??

The best way to know is to ask your Onc, BS and maybe second PS. To get a good understanding of what actually is going on.
