I have been on Exemestane for 2.5 yrs. Had my ovaries out over a year ago. Just a week ago I started experiencing very unpleasant burning and discomfort down there. Went to see my obgyn. He told me he is surprised it did not happen earlier. Vaginal atrophy. He mentioned vaginal estrogen Rx , but I need to check it first with my MO next month. Coconut oil doesn't help. Its not just painful during sex , it feels like i am having a burn or a canker sore there all day long. The discomfort is less… read more

I was complaining about painful sex after starting Femara-Sahara desert in that area. I can't use anything with estrogen due to the type of cancer. Dr. referred me to PT within the hospital as they were beginning to work on this issue. Anyway, Pomagranate Oil. Yes, it is that easy. Just lube up multiple times a day to replenish dryness-gotta be comfortable with touching and inserting. After awhile, I only had to do once day, usually after a shower and always after sex. You can buy online. My hospital has it at their image center as well. PT also recommended using the vagina...yes, using it. To get super personal, practice with a vibrator until you are comfortable with your partner (size not the person-LOL). No bleeding, sometimes uncomfortable if we go too long without-remember, gotta use that muscle, but enjoyable intimacy with my guy. Libido still sucks, but once we start working at it, it "warms" up. Wow, talk about overshare, my husband will be blushing if he finds out LOL.

@A MyBCTeam Member lets do Mona Lisa and report back. I have to say that more sex makes it better...the issue is that my sex drive is missing (maybe i should advertise this on a milk carton). Marijuana also helps a bit...in terms of getting me in the mood! I feel like I am 100 without estrogen.

I did this laser treatment Monalisa. It is not covered by my insurance but it is worth the expense. I highly highly recommend it. It has changed my life. The pain and dryness and burning are pretty much gone after 3 treatments. Doc says the atrophy is reversed, pain with intercourse is minimal. There is some irritation but that is normal and it will go away.
I was doing the estrogen cream but it was not helping.

Update- I started using replens and my urine situation resolved itself. My OB/GYN was going to recommend an estrogen cream but after my success with replens we ate not going that direction. I am still going to try the “ mona lisa” but hokding out for now.

I've had great success with a product called Femallay. I found it on Amazon and it's @$20 for 14 suppositories, but it is WORTH IT! All natural oils with no soy, parabens or hormones - perfect for ER+ diagnosis. It can be a tad messy after sex but nothing unmanageable. It has restored intimacy between my husband and I. And...shame on those docs who made those insensitive, uninformed comments! May they never receive such shoddy care if they are ever sitting in our shoes.
