@A MyBCTeam Member - My oncologist (who I no longer see) tried hard to convince me to take at least @ Tamoxifen if I wasn't willing to switch to an AI. My surgeon, PS, PCP and GYN all support my decision to not take anything and agree that it's a numbers game and quality of life matters more than some perceived statistical benefit.

I was BRACA2. So I had tubes and ovaries removed. It meaned changing Tamoxifen to Anastrozole. The tummy was sore for about a week. The bruising lasted longer. About 9pm each night, I get a little warm, but that’s it. So far, so good...well except the weight gain, which I I was told Incoukd blame on being put into instant menopause and The Anastrozole

I had my ovaries and tubes removed fall of 2015 - my general surgeon did it laparoscopically and it was a quick recovery. I was 52 and had stopped Tamoxifen due to side effects.
I am not any hormone blockers now (diagnosed with IDC Stage 1, tumors Grade 1 & 2) and my side effects from being "pushed over the menopausal Cliff" (my surgeon's words, were actually less than I had while on Tamoxifen.

I’m 43 and struggling with the same decision. I’m also brca negative but I don’t like the idea of the shots to shut down my ovaries because of the additional side effects etc.. my oncologist said i need to decide soon but I’m nowhere close to knowing what’s best..

I keep trying to follow my intuition, but fear is strong. I have been seeing a naturopathic physician who has given me lots of advice and supplements but she is not willing to advise me on this decision. I have found my oncologist to be of little help as there is no clear plan for what to do in five years. Studies are still pending regarding staying on AIs or not after five years. I guess for now I'll just continues zoladex until the answer makes itself clear. Thanks for the feedback:)
