I have had 2 Prolia treatments. I took Claritin day of and day after , had 'infusion' in arm and was fine. I have osteoporosis so not much choice. This ranks in the 'no biggie ' column.

I was also recommended to take Prolia injection 2X's a year since my recent bone scan showed osteopenia. I declined the shot because I'm feeling good now. Yes, bone and joint pain from the Arimidex but not enough to worry me. I'm Stage IV, feeling pretty good considering what I've endured and so for now, no Prolia. I read the scary side effects too, but that goes for everything we take. Somewhere down the line I may have no choice but to take the Prolia, but for now, I've decided against it. Everyone is different so no comparisons being made. Sending blessings...xxoo

I was also worried about the side effects of Prolia having read all the horrible stuff - and put it off for a while - but actually I haven't had any of them and it's been fine. I've had four six monthly shots. Here is an interesting article about it,

I took a regular Claritin day before, day of injection in recommendation of infusion clinic nurse. Had no reaction, redness, soreness. Nada thing!

@A MyBCTeam Member Yes they need to know your Calcium level before starting any of the meds that are used for osteoporosis, and before the hormone blockers as far as I've seen. I was shocked when I read your ONC wouldn't order a DEXA scan. Why in the world would that be ? Again as far as I can tell that is also routine before starting these meds. And then simultaneous treatment with calcium & Vit D. That said I know treatment has to be very individual when multiple factors are involved. And maybe for added peace of mind just call you Ophthalmologist & find out directly from them if it could affect your eyes. Keep us posted :)
