Does anyone have a success story to share? Or compelling reasons why you decided not to have the surgery? I am struggling with the decision, can't seem to bring myself to want to get cut on again. 😳
I chose to have the 3D nipple tattoos done. It took me over 3 years to make hat decision but I couldn't be happier. They look amazing and I feel more "normal". I found a great artist who specializes in this type of tattoo and rough a photo of my "old" nipples so we could closely match and they looked natural to me. All of my friends can't believe it's an actual tattoo. IF you decide to go this route - make sure you see plenty of photos.
I haven't opted for my reconstruction yet. But my surgeon prepped my body for it. She even moved my nipples so they'd be in place. My original reconstruction was sidelined when i had a Medtronic pain pump inserted to deal with the pain i was experiencing. The pump is in the way of the surgery area.
I chose to have the 3D nipple tattoos pretty much for the same reason of not wanting another surgery. My mom had it and it really didn't look very good. Plus if you want to go without a bra, it will always look like your nipples are hard.
I will have my tattoos on the 9th of August. I'll let you know how it was! I have never had a tattoo before!
Just make the right choice for you. Hugs!
I opted to not have it done. I have seen others who did it. One person had great looking nipples. One had not great ones. I also saw a few with tattoos. Some were faint. One person had really dark nipples. I didn't want that. I guess I was sick of surgery. Plus I was afraid on getting one ripped off. I have a handicapped child who can be a handful.
What did you decide? I am just over a month from nipple reconstruction with the C-flap/ origami for nipple and skin from my upper thigh (at the crease) for areola. 🏵🏵Took one areola awhile to heal. From day one I was glad I did it, 🌸🌸feel more "normal." It looks like one might be off-center, but honestly it's for the quick change where I don't have that Barbie boob with scar reminder. I always wore lightly padded bras so no different for shirts that need it. My BMX was April'16, swap Nov 16 and nipple reconstruction Nov '17.
