I had my surgery first then chemo and radiation I was on tamoxifen for five years and now I'm on anastrozole I believe that's the treatment

I have the same ER-/PR+/HER2- cancer. It was very aggressive. I had a clean mammogram 7 months prior to finding a 3cm cancerous tumor. I did 16 weeks of chemo. I am getting a BMX and starting Tamoxifen next week. I have read and read and read. I have asked this question to anyone who will listen. I want to hit this cancer with everything we can so I am moving forward with the hormone therapy. I figure it can't hurt to have the extra measure in there. I am 41 and my mother was diagnosed with BC at 48. Hers was ER+/PR+/HER2-. Hopefully the tamoxifen will help to prevent any hormone receptor positive cancer from growing. If they told me wearing shoes on my hands for five years would help, i would do that too! I want anything and everything to prevent recurrence. I have just decided to stop questioning the doctors about it, accept that this may prevent other cancers, and just keep educating myself along the way. I give up trying to get the answer to that question. There was a study done specifically about this subject in Japan or China maybe. I read the study/article in the NIH or ACS maybe. Good luck to you. Try not to make yourself crazy finding an answer. There is no answer.

Thank you! I had seen the research about reproducibility and that it might just be an error, but hadn't seen the one about Tamoxifen. I've seen others where most, but not all, change hormone receptor status when re-tested too, with most becoming double positive and some becoming double negative. Mine will be retested with the surgery sample. Definitely something to talk with him about again once I get through the surgery & radiation if it remains ER-/PR+. Thank you again!

Since I posted that, I did talk to him about it. He's said that it's probably not worth it to do it, but I'm still wondering what others' experiences/recommendations have been.
