if you have expanders, you should be fine to swap them for implants. I got the gummy ones. The skin on my radiated side is definitely tighter and I wasnt able to fill them as much as I wanted, but they still look good in clothes, which was all I really cared about.

I had expanders put in while still in tx and the right one deflated and my ps wanted to put in a new one but i opted not to finish with it. It was very painful i have prosthesis which r just fine for me. Good luck on ur choice

I'm being told that I can't just do implants after my mastectomy because they did a lumpectomy and radiation first, almost two years ago. But that radiation is accumulative and implants alone are a poor option over radiated tissue.
Five consults and my best options to get is a lat flap with fat grafting over implants.
But I had signs of cancer in my opposite breast, they removed implants, and I had a pelvic lift and salpino oophorectomy so don't abdominal options.

I just finished radiation over expanders. I plan to go back to my PS next month when the redness calms down. I am hoping to swap the expanders for implants. A lot depends on the health of my skin.
