The risk is 0.005%, it's very rare.

It's not as rare as you think.. its just under reported... not enough awareness about it yet.. but its coming out more and more

The statistics quoted in 2017 are as follows: USA 1:10-30,000 lifetime risk AUSTRALIA 1:1,000. Truth is that reporting incidence is difficult based on the limitations of current Database in FDA. As of February, 2017 there were 359 cases that have been reported since 2010. Unfortunately, I am in contact with approx. 50 women with BIA-ALCL and 1/2 of us have NOT been reported and included in the FDA's current count. Therefore the incidence rates are inaccurate and have increased exponentially since BIA-ALCL has increased in awareness within the last 2 years. I was Dx'd with Stage IV BIA-ALCL in 2015. The rarity of this disease is inaccurate due to FDA reporting limitations. About 1/2 of Dx'd women are Reconstruction patients. About 1/2 of us, who have met through FB social media have not been reported to FDA.
