I am 6+ years since my right mastectomy and have axillary recurrence. Dr found a small lump on my chest and it was fat necrosis. I did not even have a graph or reconstruction. Good luck

I have the same problem , my fat grafting surgeries were 2 years ago , yet last week I felt a pea sized lump about an inch under my nipple , panicked straight away and rang the hospital , they've now brought my yearly mammogram forward from the 24th Nov to the 9th , my breast care nurse says it's prob necrosis , but my research has mostly said that if ur gonna get necrosis, it usually happens in the weeks or months following any surgery , yet I'm 2 years out , I'm almost certain the lump wasn't there before as I regularly check , and it's nothing to do with my hormones as I had a hysterectomy in 2008 , I'm petrified it's cancer again

most probably fat necrosis. Do not worry.

It's a very individual and personal decision. I decided to do it because I didn't feel comfortable with just the mastectomy since I am only in my early 60s. I had a fantastic plastic surgeon and I am completely thrilled with my breast reconstruction. This new little wrinkle doesn't have me concerned about the reconstruction now, but more about The possible recurrence of breast cancer. But you have to find a surgeon that you love and trust – that's the key ! I chose the DIEP reconstruction because I didnt feel comfortable with implants.
