My nails and toenails turned dark not really purple and they also started lifting off the nail bed . I did lose one of my big toe nails . I was also told to soak in epsom salt and to massage tea tree oil on them . I believe at least one of them worked because I thought I would lose a lot more than one . Hope it helps you.

my nails were actually affected by Taxol more than AC, but my nurses had me soak in Epsom salt and water. Hope it helps you too!

I had a lot of nail pain also, sometimes it felt like someone had them in vice-grips. Several of my toenails turned purple, but only my right big toenail died, lifted a little and eventually grew out and as it grew out I trimmed it. I finished chemo the end of January 2016 and I just trimmed off the rest of the dead nail, this morning. I didn't know anything about icing my nails during chemo. And the tea tree oil that I got made me feel really ill and nauseas. I gave the bottle to my good friend who loves it. Instead I used coconut oil. I was told I only had to do it during the Taxol. Didn't do the icing during the time having the Herceptin.
