I had surgery on my left breast in October to remove stage 1 cancer. They also took one lymph node which came back fine. However, because I had atypical hyperplasia in both breasts, they did a bilateral mastectomy in December. I had reconstruction at the same time with expanders. The left breast isn't healing well. @A MyBCTeam Member it was fluid buildup. 300 cc. She drained it off and everything is back to normal. 😊
I had a skin sparing mastectomy with chest expanders last June. I have the same type of flaps on the side of my left breast. IT looks like swelling but my breast surgeon assured me it wasn't. SHe said the plastic surgeon will fix it during my. EXCHANGE
I went through this as I had a modified radical mastectomy 6 years ago. I had to have my site drained 2 times due to fluid build up....I forget now what the surgeon called it. I still have swelling 6 years later, but no fluid build up....it is something I will have to live with....it sucks!!!
No not excessively. I am still under weight restrictions due to the incision on the left having an open place. At my first appointment at my PS, she drained a small pocket of fluid from my right. I am thinking it is probably fluid. I don't know enough about lymphodema but I was under the impression that it was possible on the side where the lymph node was taken?
Could be scar tissue as well or like you said fluid . Your PS will definitely be able to give you a better answer once he see it. Have you used your right arm a lot?
