My MO has told me he doesn't do follow up scans. Follow-up will be come see me if you have symptoms. Seems for TNBC they would monitor you more closely. Is this standard protocol? I don't want to wait for symptoms.
I am 2 and a half years out of treatment for TNBC. I get scans every 6 months. If all is well after 3 years I go to once a year scans. I will see Dr every six months for 5 years then go to yearly visits.
I'm with all of you! Just because we are survivors, doesn't mean we are up going through it again! My oncologist says... routine blood tests. Any accelerated levels would but looked at much closer. No scans, no mammos (BC bi-lateral mast), etc.
Most of my friends who survived cancer had a recourrence and YES... IT SCARES THE HELL OUT OF ME..
This is what I was told also. I'm TNBC and was told no scan I go back to oncologist three months after my last chemo. I to live with very high anxiety over this. They make sure you know how aggressive TNBC is and then they say we just wait. I feel like a ticking time bomb.
I'm not triple negative but my dr said the same thing. I'm 2b ER+PR+ Her2-. My concerns were that it may have spread to other areas or organs. She said since I've had no other symptoms other than the initial lump, she doesn't plan to do a full scan either, but will monitor me very closely for the first year after treatment is completed and then less often as the years go by as long as I have no symptoms. Makes sense but it would be nice to know for sure that it's all gone.
@A MyBCTeam Member I totally agree with you. This seems crazy and stresses the hell out of me. What do you do? Run to the dr with every little pain or bad feeling you have??
