did anybody hear or have this mastectomy surgery with a cut on the bottom on the breast and an implant put in right away? also no nipple remove?
My doc would not do that. TE's were how my reconstruction began. I have had two sets of implants. Long story but don't do cartwheels when you have reconstrcution! In my case I had DCIS and the nipple is removed. Everyone has a diff Dx so maybe you have heard about "nipple sparing" @mastectomy. Don't miss my nipples one bit. I didn't even tattoo because id rather where a fitted tank and no bra...no "fake nipple" to show thru :)
That is what I had 2 1/2yrs ago It took 5hrs in surgery but they did everything at the same time I was very
lucky not everyone can do it that way I could not have asked for a better outcome Thank God!!!
@A MyBCTeam Member, no, unfortunately it's no different than any other MX...the breast is removed, along with profound severance of nerves. The nipple tissue remains alive by a remarkably small blood supply along the thin layer of skin. It's tricky and amazing that it works most of the time. But, no; no sensation outside of phantom pain occasionally, just as is so with any mastectomy, reconstructed or not.

I had a double mastectomy in October with the cut on the bottom, implants put in the same day and my nipples survived!! I can't even see scars because there underneath the breast!
No, i did not have an expander, they were able to do immediate implant reconstruction
