I had radiation pneumonitis from the radiation treatments. felt like i was short of breath often. The tamoxifen gave me pulmonary embolis, 4 of them. On anastrazole now. See a pulmonologist and have follow up ct scans. Had a gastric sleeve in september so i have lost a significant amount of weight and i feel great now.

Thanks so much for the quick response. I really appreciate it.

I have had at least 3 bouts of pneumonia and multiple cases of bronchitis when I was teaching, prior to bc.so the area on my lung didn't scare me.I was told this yrs ago and given an inhaler which I used then.

However, I sometimes have pains during exercising. I refused to acknowledge it b/c I was very overweight and recently lost weight. Now,the pains have been fewer.

I also have radiation scatter on my thyroid. There are nodules that they are watching.I have that checked every 6 mons.

Then the m.o. starts with having a colonoscopy so I asked him whether there was a sale on them b/c I heard him recommend another patient, who is a friend of mine. He doesn't have a sense of humor and I think he was far from amused.LOL.

This has not been an easy week and I am sure you understand.

Thanks again and thanks for letting me vent. Hugs, Cindy

I refused the CT scan. I did meet with a pulmonologist and he told me I probably had radiation fibrosis. I had a "chest cold" about 9 months after radiation and pnemonia (in the radiated lung only) about 2 years after that. I have some pleural pain from time to time. (That has actually improved.) I went through a spell where I tried some inhalers and some difficulty breathing. My chest xray shows one nodule in that lung (benign). Nodules are common. The pulmonologist really wanted me to get a ct scan but also said it might not show much of anything but that doesn't mean that I don't have damage to other parts of my lung that can't be seen on ct. There isn't any treatment for it so I didn't want it. Btw, my breathing test is normal and I do work out! I can tell that I'm different and I have a wheeze in the morning when I wake up or am phlegmy after cardio. My sleep is messed up from this too! Sorry you are going through this!! Hope this helps. Hugs!

I did not have pnuemonitis but when I took a breast mri, it showed grey areas on my lungs. got sent for a chest x-ray and radiologist claimed fibrosis. That was in August. Fast forward to last week, medical oncologist wants a chest ct scan. Did you need to take one? what does that show? I am assuming he is on the prowl for more cancer. When I asked him his gave me the "we want to be sure everything is all right" speech.

I am really concerned about the amount of radiation from the chest ct scan. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks.Hugs,Cindy
