I have been on Tamoxifen almost 5 months. Other than the very occasional mood swing, I have not noticed side effects. How long does it take usually? I am pre-menopausal.
my doctor told me side effects would kick in anywhere for immediately to the first three months. I also made it through without any noticeable side effects, although about six months in I did start getting hot flashes, they weren't terrible, but they were definitely annoying. They stopped for a few months, then restarted again and now have stopped again. I have been on tamoxifen for 11 months. I do not seem to get my period anymore or they are sufficiently irregular that I can go months without getting them. I think the last time I had a period was in July, so three or four months ago, however there was about three or four months gap between that time and the time before. I do not think that it is that unusual to not have any real problems with tamoxifen, there are definitely people who have terrible side-effects, but there are far more people who seem to have minimal or no problems.
Just because a pill could have side effects doesn't mean you will experience any. Sounds like you are tolerating it well. I was on tamoxifen and had occasional thigh soreness. I am now on Anastrozole and have no side effects.
