How Was Yout Port Removal Experience?
It is my 'deportation' day on Wednesday (5/18/16) !!! I'm very happy about it, but I'm a little worried as my doctor said I would be awake for the procedure!! Has anyone else had their port removed under local anesthesia? If so, can you please tell me how it was? Thanks, Kat
So I had the port removed today and it was totally fine! It took a little longer to remove as my tissue had attached itself to it! But once the doctor freed it, it came right out. The numbness is just now starting to wear off, but it's not bad and nothing that a couple of ibuprofen can't handle! It's a weird psychological feeling for it to be gone.... definitely signifying the end :) The last thing my doctor said was 'now don't think about breast cancer again'!! That sounds good to me! Thanks to those who responded to this question, it really did help calm my nerves and I hope this too can help someone who has yet to have it removed! God Bless and take care.
@A MyBCTeam Member Mine was fast and easy and when the pain drugs wore off I was only slightly sore (not sore enough to even need tylenol), and only for about a day. Good luck tomorrow... you'll do great!
Just had mine removed last week. I didn't feel a thing.
That's so great. Time for you to celebrate
So glad it went well @A MyBCTeam Member ... huge step to moving forward to life without cancer. Cheers!
