I was just wondering how many people who are diagnosed with breast cancer did not have any symptoms.
I was 28 yrs old I was showering and all of a sudden there's this lump embedded in my chest muscle. My Dr said lets wait a mnth to see if iys fibroid cyst. Next mnth still there and that's when it started. I had not one symptom, no weight loss, no drainage from my nipple, no fatigue except reg. I think if it had not landed where it did it mite of been a complete different story.
I had no symptoms. Mine was 'microcalcifications' found on routine annual mammogram. After the biopsy and lumpectomy, it was found to measure very small at 0.9mm. However, my sentinel node was positive so I have been undergoing Chemo tx (today will be #5). Even though mine was found Early and the area was Small, I also did genetic testing and was found to have the BRCA 1 gene mutation. So, after Chemo is completed, I face a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. EARLY DOES NOT MEAN EASY!! :-(
With all due respect to your Onco, I was a full-on A cup only when carrying too much weight, nursed both my children for three years each, no family history and was a runner; I think unless there's a genetic or familial link, the rest is speculation.
As you see from the copious responses, overwhelmingly there are no symptoms, or such general symptoms ( like fatigue) that any physician would attribute them to a multitude of very real factors that already exist in each of us (like stress, etc.) anyway, I suspect disease quite often is a situation of a 'perfect storm', i.e., many things have to go wrong before there is a system failure; let yourself off the hook for having missed something, sister soldier.

My tumor was 6.0 cm, (2.3622 inches) no other symptoms.guess I didn't check my breasts often enough. But mammogram was fine just 6 months before I found the big lump! they should've given me an MRI since I had history of prior needle biopsy and dense breasts! and this is mammo was given at a big Cancer

Wow I did not realize how many women have no symptoms. My surgeon made it seem like I should of. I also a large breasted well was lol and being so young and no family history at all. The lump was 4 1/2 cm and it was in 2 lymph nodes. My Dr said mine was from being fully developed at the age of 11 and started my period at the same age. I was a Dcup at 11 yrs old.I had to much estrogen he said. Thank you for sharing with me.
