At time of treatment I was working as a full time floor nurse. There was just no way I could work during treatment! I did dose dense AC and the first two treatments a breeze, by the 3rd tx it all changed. Bottom line I got super sick from the side effects. Also remember this if you get sick during treatment it's harder to fight off the infections as your immune system is shot. Also if you get to sick then they will have to put your treatment on hold until you get better. You need to ask yourself if the risk is worth it. For me it wasn't.No way was I risking my life by risking the chances of getting sick.

Hi Jokey, I should start by telling you I am a massage therapist and the majority of my clients are school teachers. I had Ac every three weeks for three months and then twelve weeks of Taxol before starting thirtythree radiation treatments. I went to work part-time after the second AC treatment and was back fulltime when I started the Taxol. It wasn't easy. I became neutropenic after the first and third rounds of AC and one of my clients did share her cold with me.( My own fault, I should have sent her away) the AC made me horribly sick but I had iv fluids the day after and we changed some meds. We finally got it figured out by my last round. All I can tell you is do what your comfortable with. I was stubborn, but I am my only source of income. No disability benefits. Good luck, Yvonne

Your not nuts to try . every patient tolerates chemo differently But, i would try to prepare for time off.

Hey, I started working again about a month after my bilateral mastectomy and sentinel node Disection, with tissue expander implants.. I started Chemo the same week, and have been working ever since. The chemo was AC cocktail with a few other drugs, Gosrelan hormone suppression monthly injection, and weekly fills in my expanders. I had this for 4 treatments and then started the taxol. I this will be for a total of 12 taxol treatments, and then hopefully I will have the surgery to swap out the expanders before I move onto radiation. I have been plagued with severe side affects, that meds don't seem to help, and it is a struggle to get up and go to work when I am so exhausted, and sick all the time, but unfortunately the bills don't stop when you get sick. So I'll stick it out. I think that Vonne is right, what is right for you is different for another. Make sure you listen to your body, and if you don't feel right working, and can stay home for some of your treatment period, do it.

Hi there! I had the same treatment and I actually worked the entire time. I'm a Nurse Practitioner who works 12-hr shifts in an ICU (germs galore!). The AC regimen was the worst and I could only work every other week with that one. However, I felt almost back to normal with the Taxol so I was back full time with that. I did get a little tired and achy towards then end of my 12 weeks, but it was manageable as long as I kept moving. If you're a workaholic like me, I say go for it! I couldn't imagine being cooped up at home for that whole time. Good luck!
