Immediately after starting chemotherapy (Taxotere, Carboplatin, Herceptin, Perjeta) I had burning when I urinated. I got up the nerve to look at my vagina with a hand mirror and couldn't believe how red and irritated my skin was. My gynecologist told me to use Desitin diaper rash cream to protect my skin. I haven't had intercourse with my husband for six months because of the pain! I am now down to Herceptin every 3 weeks and thought my symptoms would improve. Should I be taking medication… read more

Lastly, your husband can in fact get a yeast infection from you and if you get better then have sex you can be reinfected by him! You both need to be treated and no sex until doc gives the all clear! If he is uncircumcised he can have yeast growing under the foreskin as well. If this is the case he should wash very good before sex. Always empty your bladder after sex and clean the area n dry well.

I have been doing research and asked my Gyn and oncologist about your problem with yeast.
No panty hose, leotards, nylon panties, synthetic fabric, and no tight clothing.
Do not wear wet swimsuits or clothing for long periods of time.
No bubble baths, scented oils, powders, feminine sprays, tampons or douches.
Do not use vasoline as a lubricant!
Wipe front to back to prevent bacteria from getting into the vagina.
Keep area dry after shower.
Wear cotton panties and loose clothing.
Make sure you and your partner bathe before intercourse.
Take vitamins and supplements to build your immune system.
Avoid yeast based foods.

I'm not sure if hubby can get yeast from you while having sex and possibly give it back after you are clear.
I'll have to ask about that one!
Hope this helps! It's all easy to do!
Please talk to your doc about how to treat your symptoms and clear the yeast up. Do some research on diet as well. Hugs and kisses, Kim

The irritation is inside. I always have this symptom after taking antibiotics and have learned to ask the prescribing physician to always give me a prescription for 1-2 Diflucan pills which knock out a yeast infection in days. After chemo it seems to get a little better with a Diflucan pill for a day or two, then comes back. I wasn't sure how many Diflucan pills I can safely take. I've tried a lubricant, but the tissue inside my vagina still burns.

Is your yeast infection inside your vagina? Or outside? Always wear cotton underwear. I change mine several times a day because it's hot here and I have a sweaty booty!!! Lol. is your pain during intercourse inside pain or outside pain?
