Has anyone been able to get disability from breast cancer? I tried before based off my fibro but my doctors didn't provide enough information so I was denied....but working is getting harder and harder.

Everyone is denied the first time - - apply again

See an advertisement on TV about disability lawyers - - call them

In my state ( Kentucky you aren't even eligible for a check till your 6month off work , but I applied after a month and a half because it takes 3-5 months for a decision . It may be different if you are terminal but I'm not sure . But in key. Breast cancer alone does not qualify you for disability unless it is terminal. Which is sad because working during all this was not an option for me I could not have done it . Thank God I got my disability but I have a lot of other physical issues. But it took 6months and we went thru a lot of our savings while waiting . I don't know what I would have done if I were single .

Get an attorney ,and just swamp them with information from every doctor visit. I drowned them with forms my attorney would fax in. I was accepted for disability within a year. Not for cancer though. Something else. Cervical fusion from auto accidents. But just saying keep submitting information. I think I had the thickest file ever seen. Make them sick of all the faxes. Good luck.

I was able to get disability due to diagnosis of bc and anxiety associated with diagnosis. In previous years I had occasionally been prescribed Librium for anxiety. My primary care doctor took me out of work after diagnosis . Once surgery was done surgeon had to submit paperwork for disability. Radiologist will submit once radiation is started. I too was initially denied until further clarification was submitted. You really have to stay on top of it ....make sur Doctor is submitting all requested info. I had to make many follow up phone calls. Hope this helps.
