Your wait time is about right especially for someone whose undergone a double mastectomy. I just has one breast removed and was told by my PS that the waiting period between my last radiation until reconstructive surgery is 8 months. There's a need to make sure your completely healed from the Rad therapy prior to going under the knife again. Precautionary measures.
As long as you had some expanders or implants during our wait period, the reconstruction should be fine. Godspeed.

I didn't have radiation, just chemo. My scars across my chest, where the double mastectomies were done, are thick and attached to my chest wall. Does any one know if it is common for the PC to have to separate the scars from the chest before reconstruction.

I had my diep 9 months after mastectomy but I have heard others have waited years and it turns out beautiful
