@A MyBCTeam Member how did they found your ovarian cancer? I have been having all the classic symptoms of ovarian cancer and I just had ultrasound yesterday that showed left ovary 2x larger than right with free fluid. I'm waiting to hear from doctor to see where I go from here.

My BRCA test came back normal after they found ovarian cancer Stage 1C five years ago. Then this past fall they found breast cancer DCIS in situ. I do have family history of breast cancer, but I have decided there is no pattern or reasoning for who gets cancer!!!

I have seen them called sister cancers, there can be a connection. If you are concerned talk to your oncologist about it.

I would request a BRCA gene test if I were you. It tells you whether your cancer is in your genetic makeup or not. If it's positive, you're at a higher risk to also have ovarian cancer. It's also good to know for the rest of your family members who might want to get tested based on your results. And even if you aren't aware of other family members ever having breast or ovarian cancer, your BRCA could still be positive as you could be the first familial mutation.
