This is my first post :) I will be getting reconstructive surgery on March 19th and wanted opinions on saline vs silicone implants? I would have chosen the flap but, my plastic surgeon said I did not have enough fat. I am a little leery of silicone ( since I seem to be very sensitive to everything) but, my plastic surgeon is pushing for silicone and from what I have read they are much more realistic. I can't wait to get these expanders out! Feels like I have to bowling balls for breasts! Thanks!
I had the silicone but then had capsular contraction so had them replaced with the gummy bear, cohesive gel, implants. I am very happy with them. As close to natural as I have experienced.
I have had both silicone and gummy bears. I much prefer the gummy bears. They feel better to me, really more like my own body.
I too was told I was too thin and not eligible for anything but implants. My PS said I didn't have enough "fluffy" fat. It was the first time I wish I had a little extra on me. So I decided to go with Silicone- shaped breast implants. I just had my expanders out and silicone implants put in on Dec 19th. While it doesn't feel anything like my old soft breasts they do look really good. I'm not pain free but I think I can live with it. I try to live by the saying "if you can't change something change how you feel about it". Best of luck on your decision.
Welcome, @A MyBCTeam Member! Like @A MyBCTeam Member, I got the gummy bear implants. You will see quite the difference from your bowling balls, and soon will be able to sleep on your side! Ahh! I'm no doctor or clinical scientist, but I'm thinking that if this type of silicone was dangerous, it would be pulled off the market. My daughter opted for saline implants for augmentation, and you could see every wrinkle as they sloshed under her skin. She went back in for silicone, and she's quite happy with them. The gummies are "teardrop" shaped for much less of a bowling ball look. Will be thinking of you!
I am getting silicone because they look and feel more realistic and are more durable than saline. I do not believe there is a high incidence of people having sensitivity to them.
