I had my nipple recon./tattooing done a few weeks ago. Please allow ample time if you had radiation. I am happy with the results on the other, unradiated side, but the radiated side developed an ulceration. Just keep in mind that the radiation can cause skin changes and make healing a little uncertain. I don't regret having it done, just wish I'd have waited a little longer.

I had nipple reconstruction and tattooing but wish I had only done the 3D tattoos. Did not like the "lights always on" but now they have dimmed some. And the cosmetic tattooing is already fading.

@A MyBCTeam Member did you have any pain/swelling from the tattooing? I had my areola tattooed yesterday and the radiated side is in some pain more so than the right.

I just had my tattoo today so can't comment on the reults. It didn't hurt a bit! Radiation tattoos hurt but didn't feel a thing today except for the doctor pushing down to flatten out the implant. Piece of cake. Since I had a unilateral and have a real nipple on the other side and my breasts aren't quite the same shape I won't go braless outside of the house. There's not much protusion on either side anyways, not like they used to be. I had my good side lifted a few times for symmetry and that nipple doesn't change as much anymore.
it's really a personal decision.

I am opting for only 3d tattooing. The odd thing is I was wondering how I could emotionally wait to heal...and get the 3D done. Now two months post BMX I really dont care if I have them any time soon.
