Spoke with my Breast surgeon on Monday. I will have the test done in March after Chemo! She said the science community suggests women under 50 with Triple Negative should be tested, she added that she thinks everyone should be tested! She noted that the insurance companies are a nightmare with this test because it is expensive, $4000.00...I will deal with that issue!

My insurance originally said they wouldn't pay for the test. But my onco wrote a letter to them. It is expensive so make sure your team is able and willing to fight for you and check with how your insurance will deal with it first.

My Gyno suggested it and I filled out the questioner but my insurance wouldn't cover it. So with different insurance 3 years later I was tested again and they paid 100% of the $4000.00+ cost.

some people automatically qualify, young age, triple negative, etc....check with your doctor to see if you qualify or if you can pay for it and get it done. Although, I qualified to have the test, it came back neutral, they can't determine it always, so....wouldn't have gone much for my money if I had paid for it anyway..that would be disappointing. The doctors are treating me as if it's positive for the gene as they say better safe than sorry.
