What is cording? I had a lumpectomy and lymph node removal Dec. 3. I started doing stretches after my follow up visit. Yesterday my armpit felt achy and it looks like a swollen vein in my armpit. The back of my arm is a little sore. I thought this was from stretching but my right side doesn't hurt.

Find a good physical therapist I have experienced cording really bad I think my pt said its when the muscles stick more to the skin and bunch up. It's very painful and restricts your movement. My physical therapist does a technique with my skin that pops the cording loose it's painful while she does it but is very helpful afterwards and it's getting better with each visit. Hope this helps.

Find a good physical therapist. I didn't have cording until my lat flap surgery 3 years after diagnosis. I had limited range of motion and my therapist fouND cording during the first session. I gained 30% range of motion that first session. Over 3 1/2 from first surgery and I still get soreness under my arm sometimes. Massaging it helps. I also have to keep my under arm stretched out or it gets tight. I will probably always have some tightness due to radition.

That is what it looks like. I was checked by the doctor on Dec. 18 and it was ok then. Luckily it isn't too painful yet.

Keep doing your stretches, I had a lumpectomy and 17 lymph nodes taken, use lotion and rub that tender area while you stretch.
